Pegasus is spyware that uses a zero-click vulnerability to enable remote surveillance of smartphones. It was developed by NSO Group an Israeli technology firm.
zero-click vulnerability is a type of remote cyber-attack that does not require any interaction from the target user to compromise the target device.
What can Pegasus spyware do?
Once a device is infected with Pegasus spyware it can read SMS, emails, call logs, take pictures, enable microphones, get access to contacts and, browser history pretty much everything. It gets entire control over the victimized device and also can transfer the data to the attacker.
Can Pegasus be traced?
Pegasus can't be or very difficult to be traced as it is designed to evade forensic analysis tools, avoid detection by anti-virus software, and can be deactivated and removed by the attacker anytime.
Which devices are attacked by Pegasus?
Pegasus is powerful spyware it can infect both iOS and Android mobile phones and can turn them into surveillance devices.
Can we prevent Pegasus?
It is difficult to prevent this kind of zero-click attack. But some safe habits include having updated Operating Systems, having updated Antivirus software, not installing apps or APK files from untrusted platforms, etc.
